We were delighted to welcome back the majority of our students in Grade 5 this week! It is so good to have them in person and we have spent this week getting to know each other better and being thinkers as we explore what we want our learning community to look like.

In our Who We Are Unit we are looking at the Central Idea that: People’s quality of life is different when their rights are respected. So we are examining who we are as individuals and the things we need to ensure a successful year of learning and teaching for all of us.

In Literacy, we have started to explore who we are as a writer, reader and listener and in Maths we have been exploring systematic patterns and thinking like a mathematician. Ask your child about the Frogs and Toads game where they explored trial and error, recording and patterns! We even had some Maths outdoors as we played a live game. (Little did they know they were doing algebra…)

On Sunday we are expecting all of our Grade 5 students to be back in person and we will work together to create our classroom Essential Agreement!

We look forward to seeing as many parents as possible at our Parent Information Evening on Tuesday 7th September. There will be 2 presentation slots, a repeat of the same presentation, to allow you to choose which session you would like to attend. The first session will be at 5.30pm and the second session will be at 6.30pm (Ms Khadija will attend this session). There will be a chance to ask any questions you may have during these sessions.
