March Mammal Madness 2021

 

The annual, world-wide mammal competition is well underway now that the first round is complete.

There were three upsets in the first rounds, one of them major, that will put the brakes on several people’s brackets. These include the Egyptian Fruit Bat (#12) win over the Kinda Baboon (#5) and the Solenodon (#13) victory over the Malagasy Striped Civet (#4). The big surprise was in the Myths and Monsters Division where the #15 Crypt-keeper Wasp defeated the #2 ranked Masrasector Nananubis. 

Members of the Green House chose more upsets successfully so earned some bonus points in the competition. If their choices can continue winning according to their predictions they could earn a lot of points.

 

Here are the current student point leaders, based on their successful choices in round 1:

21 Points –Karar

20 Points – Georg, Kate, Akshay

18 Points –Azra

16 Points – Gonçalo

13 Points –Arzoo, Hamza

12 Points – Hans

10 Points – Abdul

 

In round 2 many people will be able to earn up to 28 more points but it is worth noting that Tina and Amanda could both earn 30 based on their good choices in round 1. Be on the lookout for rank changes after next week’s round 2 battles.
