Maps of the world looked very different 500 years ago before explorers had travelled to the far flung places of the world. Most maps just had a large blob of land at the bottom. This was because people knew about all the land in the northern hemisphere and they guessed that there must be land on the other side so the bored was balanced.
The students, for STEAM, were asked to choose an old map and copy it. We will eventually finish them off by making the paper look old.
