In our Unit of Inquiry we are exploring native creatures in Oman. By good fortune a swarm of bees has built a hive in a tree near the playground. This was a perfect opportunity for the students to do an inquiry into Honey Bees. We had a wonderful time observing them in action flying off to collect pollen and nectar from the flowers and return to the hive to make honey. The students have learnt that the bees are our friends but we must leave them alone. They are also more conscious of picking the flowers as they know it is food for the them. The students created some wonderful art and enjoyed their inquiry and making their learning visible.
