One of the key principles in IB Diploma is to allow students to develop their own lines of inquiry and interpretations. As our anti-hero, Petruchio, continues his psychological campaign to ‘kill his wife with kindness,’ we have conducted a close analysis of his language and the moral implications of his actions. Can he be justified in his approach? Can we judge a sixteenth century man by modern standards? Grade 11 formed their own (very strong!) views on this.

To tackle the task from a different angle, the students were challenged to empathize with Petruchio through a series of hot-seating exercises, forcing them to consider a range of perspectives. The outcomes were very interesting!
