With last week’s unexpected interruption We did not get to report out about the MYP authorization event. Here is a short report out of an event that was months in the planning and that involved just about everyone in the upper school as well as support staff at multiple levels.

The authorization visit was the capstone event in a process began two years ago as ABIS committed to seeking authorization of nearly its entire academic program in order to become a continuum school. Assuming that IB grants us authorization, we will be one of two continuum school in Oman. This will be a notable achievement. The MYP Programme is known as the program that is the most challenging for which to receive authorization. The teachers of ABIS can likely attest to the rigors involved in this process.

To the parents and students who gave of their time to talk to the authorizing team, we owe you our gratitude for the time you devoted and for the spirit of support you embody. You represent the best that people of good will have to offer. So thank you all. The authorizing team spoke in very positive terms about their interactions with students, parents, and teachers.

So now we are waiting for the official report on our school from IB. This is promised to take no longer than a month but we look forward to hearing from them sooner than that so that we can move forward with our planning as an MYP authorized school. We will make an announcement to all once we are notified by IB.
