The musical journey that Grade 8s have been on so far this year has taken us from Africa to North America. We’ve inquired into the fusion of musics that took place with this migration and have finally arrived at the amazing genre of Blues!
Student are beginning to take the creative steps in composing their own 12 Bar Blues using Blues Before Sunrise by Elmore James as an example. One of our Attitude to Learning (ATLs) focuses on applying existing knowledge to general new ideas which is exactly what learners are doing in this activity. This skill is transferable across all of the students’ learning contexts.
