Over the last few weeks, we have been discussing the impact of modern technology on human interaction in Grade 12 English Language Acquisition. We have had some very interesting discussions about how modern tech has helped shape the millennial generation and whether social media and high-spec phones have improved communication or made us all ignore each other! This week we investigated the so-called ‘Google Effect.’ Have we become too reliant on the ubiquitous search engine, to the cost of our own mental faculties? Or has Google simply made it easier for us to access information freely? Even more important, from an English language point of view, should we now class googling as a verb in its own right? Now there’s a question! Shall we look it up?!
