In Grade 7, we were lucky to have art blocks on both Wednesday and Thursday. We began by joining Google Classroom, creating digital process journals, and finishing the task of putting school timetables into our Google Calendar apps. There were also some fun icebreakers that allowed us to practice using Google Meet to speak and share in turns, and to collaborate in small groups using breakout rooms.
Today, we tried looking at art with a well-known work by Van Gogh. Students took turns first describing what they could see, then using that evidence to make inferences about the painting’s meaning. After looking at the artist’s room, students shared one meaningful item from their own rooms. This fun, social activity will lead into their first unit next week!
