The MYP Personal Project is one required aspect of the ABIS program that is required to be done successfully in order to receive the MYP Certificate. It is a wonderful accomplishment that we hope students find pleasure in finishing. We have started working on it in order for students to start off and have enough time to finish it according to the schedule we have created.

The grade 9 students have begun the process of deciding what they will achieve in their personal project. The project itself should take 25 hours of their time outside of school to accomplish. The personal project overall requires:

1. Deciding on what their product will be and researching it

2. Planning how they will achieve their goal

3. Accomplishing the goal

4. Writing a report about the process and the outcome

The projects are done on the students’ own time but we are supporting all of them in their weekly MYP Support class. They are currently working on step 1. We have assigned them all a textbook and will continue to work with them as planned.

Please ask your child about what they have decided on or are thinking about doing and encourage them to take on a project they love and that is going to take them 25 hours to accomplish.

If you have any questions know that we are preparing to have an orientation session for parents. Mrs. Rehil is out Personal Project Coordinator. You can contact her (e.rehil@abisoman.com) or Mr. Perry (g.perry@abisoman.com).
