April 30 and May 1 marked the days of the Grade 6 Exhibiton: The culmination of the PYP program.

The Grade 6s did an amazing job sharing their learning journey and process on April 30th.

Grade 6s wanted to make their learning accessible to younger students at ABIS. Students from the ECC engaged in workshops based on Exhibition topics. Grade 6s led dance workshops to show how we can express through movement.

Students attended the kindness workshop to talk about how everyone deserves to be treated with kindness.

Students came to learn about culture, how different cultures are connected and how important it is to be proud of your culture.

As part of their Action plan, Oscar and Amal wanted to help young students know how to behave safely around dogs and understand more about animal behaviour.

The other part of our process day involved inviting guests from Grade 2 and up into see 14 stations that explained our Exhibition process.

May 1 was all about the collaborative group presentations. They were all based on rights that are not being met in the local and global communities. Animal Rights, Child Labour, Gender inequality, racial discrimination, housing and health care, voting and freedom of speech and cultural rights were the topics the Grade 6s researched deeply.

Thank you to all the staff, students, parents and community members who came in both days to support the Grade 6 Exhibition.

After all their hard work, the parents put on a wonderful celebration for the students and staff involved in the Exhibition. What a wonderful spread!

Ms. Zuweina was also given special mention for her help translating surveys and results. This helped us involve more members of the community.

It really was a team effort…..but we are sure glad it is all done!

Mentors helped the Grade 6s every step of the way. Staff and community members came in to share expertise and help them on their learning journey. The Arts team put together an amazing Exhibition presentation in Mazoon involving instruments, printed art, singing and dancing.

Thank you to everyone involved!
