As G9 Global Perspectives students work on their team projects, they are seeking ways to gain a range of cultural perspectives related to their topics. This week, one team that is working on the topic of Women’s Rights had the opportunity to attend a Women’s Empowerment Seminar at the International Maritime College here in Sohar. There they listened and learned from a group of professional women as they raised awareness about the contribution of women in the maritime industry. They discussed issues like: gender stereotypes; balance between professional and family roles; fairness in the workplace; and overcoming fear of following your dreams, even if they go against what is considered normal.
It was a good opportunity to gain perspective on the issues and solutions to the gender differences facing Oman and the world.
