This week Grade 2 enjoyed making a special card to give our Mums on Mother’s Day. Students put a great deal of care and effort into making these as lovely as could be. When it came to writing the message many students chose to write in their mother tongue. To help with this some of us checked with older speakers of our language or with google translate. It is great to be able to show our Mums how much we love and appreciate them.

We have also been learning about multiplication facts. To understand the concept of multiplication we represented some facts with equipment and also by drawing pictures.

We have been learning lots of science vocabulary and concepts as we proceed with our Ecosystems unit of Inquiry. We were interested to notice that when we were invited to research an animal most of chose vertebrates. Yet, about 95% of animals are invertebrates. So this week we have been doing some learning about invertebrates. It was interesting spending a little one on the farm observing and recording the numbers and types of vertebrates and invertebrates.
