March 12th, 2019

Bonjour chers parents,

This is a letter to inform you of the opportunity for ABIS students to take the DELF, which stands for Diplôme d’Etude de Langue Française. The DELF is a standardized test given by the French government to assess the level of competency of written and spoken French. The school edition (DELF Scolaire) is targeted towards students currently studying French at school.

This exam is not required of any ABIS student but we believe that there will be some interest in our community. There are several advantages to taking the test. On one level a student gains valuable experience of a public examination, which they would not normally encounter before the IGCSE years in G 10. Another advantage is that external exams such as the DELF, IGCSE and IB guarantee students recognition worldwide, which may be useful in terms of correct placement if your family is intending to move on to another school. It will also give students a real sense of achievement and the motivation to reach the next level.

The test will be conducted in Muscat (Choueifat school) on Friday May 4th 2019 and will cost between 40 OR (A1/A2 levels) or 45 OR (B1/B2 levels.

The deadline for registration is Thursday April 4.

If you are interested in getting further information about the DELF Scolaire then please visit this website: http://www.ciep.fr/en/delf-for-schools-diploma-in-french-language-studies. No extra preparation is needed for taking this exam.

Bien à vous!
