In grade 5, students were faced with the challenge of problem solving with geometric shapes. Each student was given a clue, and they weren’t allowed to show their clues to each other, instead they could only read it out loud. It was quite a challenge for them to only rely on listening to each other. They discovered that they needed to understand their clues, and couldn’t just rely on other people. They learned how to break down instructions to make it easier. So while the journey was difficult, they learned quite a bit from the process.
