Times flies.
It is incredible that the grade 12 students are already taking their final exams and the grade 11 students are about to finish their academic years as well.
This week we have been finishing topics and starting new ones in Biology and Chemistry.
Grade 11 Chemistry students finished with the chapter on rates of reaction and started with the one on equilibrium. This particular topic has bent of special relevance for the human race because its understanding led to the discovery of industrial methods for the production of essential chemicals like, for example, ammonia. Grade 11 Biology students finished the HL part of Biochemistry and started the topic in Evolution and biodiversity, probably the most important topic in modern Biology. Understanding evolution and how this process shapes life over time helps us understand the current biodiversity, which is crucial to tackle environmental problems and develop conservation strategies.
Next week we will develop even further into these fascinating ideas.
Very exciting.
