EARTH DAY

This week has gone by quickly as we re-settled into our routine. As April 23rd is Earth Day, Mr. Davis and the Grade 9 students raised awareness on how we can reduce and reuse some items that would otherwise go straight to the trash. Next Sunday, Mr. Martin Mbuta, Plasbin concept designer, will hold an information session on how to properly use our newly-acquired plasbins. We are very excited to be able to expand our efforts in dealing with waste in a more sustainable manner.

MAHER, INDIA

Last Monday, Ms Brewer held an information session to prepare students and their parents for the May 25th to June 2nd trip to Pune, India as part of the Grade 10’s community service program, as well as in preparation for the demands of the ID Diploma Creativity, Activity and Service. Ms. Brewer addressed the questions regarding the logistics and activities students would engage in while in the MAHER centers. Both Mr. Ramesh Warrier and Ms. Liz Jurkowski are excited to accompany our 15 students who are willing to step out of their comfort zone in order to render direct service to less priviliged children. We can’t wait to hear about this exciting and meaningful journey!

FARM

The three ABIS goats – Goggles, Snowy and Monlight – have found a new home in the farm. While our chickens have started getting used to their new surroundings. Students are becoming more involved with giving them scraps and hopefully they will give us eggs soon!

We have started our Grade 12 study leave, but some of them still prefer to come to school everyday. Our Grade 10s are also working independently on their revision, and hopefully they are following their study plan. The first IB exam is happening this Friday – good luck Grade 12s!
