The G9 class is in the midst of working on their team projects. The three teams are tackling important global issues facing the world today. One team (Sanna, Tahlyn, and Abhishek) is working on Poverty and Inequality by exploring the relationship between war and poverty with a focus on the crisis happening in Syria. This team got to have a first hand interview with a Syrian national, Dr. Ammar who is living here in Sohar. This cultural perspective provided insights into what is happening in Syria and how poverty has resulted from the continuing conflicts there. It was good to see Dr. Ammar has not given up hope for his countries restoration of peace. He talked about the key being forgiveness between groups of people and a shared vision of making Syria a peaceful state.

Another team (Julio, Trina, Omar, and Newton) is working the global issues related to Water, Food & Agriculture. They are trying to understand the root causes of food shortages and some solutions to this global issue. As well, the third team (Courtney, Michael, and Ishtiaq) are working on the global issues related to Conflict & Peace, and how our view of terrorism needs to change.

These team projects are all about exploring a wide range of cultural perspectives, developing a deeper sense of empathy, and seeking effective solutions to these issues that will make the world a better place for future generations. Great work you are doing G9s!
