Conflict has far reaching consequences. Grade 6s were finding out about this in many ways this week.

Interviewing people, as well as analyzing poems and songs about conflict. They listened to one another respectfully.

Students met their Exhibition mentors this week and documented their meetings. They also completed their Weekly reflection where they decided on the two skills they developed over the course of our lessons and activities this week.

We had a guest speaker come in to talk to us about a project the Grade 6s did last year, interviewing Grade 4s about examples of conflict at our school. Students were very engaged by Mr.Eriks presentation and connected deeply to issues of conflict impacting themselves and others at ABIS.

Students needed to be accountable for their learning. There were 4 examples of individual work that should have been posted to the ABIS Student Online Portfolio site.

Parents should now be able to access their child’s online portfolio using the email they provided to the school for contact. If your child has not added you to the site using this email, they should now be able to do so. If you encounter any difficulties, please email Mr. Atul directly (a.alex@abisoman.com). The online system is new. Issues will arise and feedback is appreciated as the system is being continuously developed and improved.

A lot of learning went on this week in Grade 6! The students were enthusiastic learners who made lots of connections to conflict and developed a good understanding. I look forward to developing our lines of inquiry next week!
