Have you ever wondered to what extent we know an artist’s intentions behind their art? Have you ever wondered how and why, when we look at things more deeply (like a piece of art), we “know” them in new a different ways?

This week G11 Theory of Knowledge students have been tackling these big questions related to the Arts. Knowledge based questions lie at the heart of TOK and inspire us to explore more deeply into the reality of our experiences and relationships with the Arts and all the other areas of knowledge.

In order to share this deeper thinking, TOK students have been busy creating mini-TOK presentations. The reason they are called mini-presentations is because they are practice grounds for major TOK Presentations that assesses their abilities to delve into the deeper aspects of TOK by the end of the course. These presentations are rooted in real-life situations coming from news stories, or current issues that are of personal interest to students and connected to the Arts, or something that has happened in the students’ own lives that made them think, TOK!

The G11s as a class have made an excellent first attempt at bringing TOK to life this week and have a solid foundation to build from as they move forward in the course. Nice work G11s!
