Grade 6s welcomed a new student to our class this week. Camilla arrived from Brazil last week and joined us on Sunday. Many students in the class have been going out of their way to make her feel welcome and included in as many of our class activities as possible. We are very fortunate to have 4 Portuguese speakers in our class!

This week we were working on our new Unit of Inquiry: Global Climate Change. We discussed some key concepts related to the topic as well as develop some “deep” inquiry questions. Ask your child what “non-googleable” means! Thanks to Kate for typing up all of the questions we wrote on the walls!

We shared our Clay Marble projects this week. A tremendous variety in presentation methods: news broadcasts, timelines, research papers, letters to a character, maps, illustrations, crosswords and a song. Lots of creativity was demonstrated as well as courage to step outside their comfort box in their choice of presentation to their peers.

The Grade 6s were very proud of the assembly performance of our buddies in Ms. Burton’s class. Way to go! Thanks to the K3 helpers: Lilli, Tariq, Sergio, Natalie, Andrew, Kate and Diego.

We continue to have discussions about potential Exhibition themes. First we needed to differentiate between topics and themes. We want to have a large umbrella theme under which not only students can work with others, but inquire into a specific area of interest. Ideally we would like to get all the specialist teachers involved. Please discuss or themes with your child. Do you have any theme suggestions?

Hopefully families are slowly collecting all the supplies that are needed for the Oman Week camping trip. I now have most of the forms handed in from families. The deadline was today, so please contact Ms. Sarah if you need an additional copy of the forms. I will be glad to provide them. Payment can be made directly to the office.
Have a great weekend!
Ms. Sarah
