Grade 6s finished off the week both leading and sharing at the Primary assembly. Each week three Grade 6s take their turn leading the assembly. Grade 6s also volunteer for other assembly leadership roles by helping role model assembly behavior for the ECC and providing technical support for the assembly. There was lots to do this week! Thanks to the students who fulfill these leadership roles so well.

Wednesday was the Secondary Arts evening, and what an evening it was! Grade 6s were dancing, singing in the choir and playing in the band. I was very proud of their performance.

We began our new unit of inquiry this week: Migration. Students will become an “expert” on a continent and participate in a Continent challenge with their teammates. We will use our note-taking skills to collect facts to commit to memory for the challenge.

Tuesday was Children’s Day. We learned about some of the most serious issues facing children around the world. Students decided to take action by raising awareness. They presented their learning at the assembly.

The week also started off on an exciting note with the National Day celebrations in LC3. Grade 6s visited and learned about Omani culture and the importance of different artifacts to the Omani culture.

We have been busy. The students deserve an extra long weekend…..but not until next weekend. I hope you are aware that there will be a long weekend in early December. The last day of school before the break is November 30. School will resume on Wednesday December 6.

Finally scholastic orders are due Monday November 27. Please submit your order on line by the deadline, as late orders will not be allowed.

Have a great weekend!
