It probably doesn’t surprise you too much that a major part of the class “Global Perspectives” is looking into multiple “perspectives” about global issues. To help us with this, we are excited to be using our new “Global Perspectives” coursebook that just recently arrived.

With that, this week the G9s have been exploring different ways of viewing topics like family, globalization, and inequality. They are making sense of related issues like population growth, lack of clean water, disease, crime, unemployment, fuel shortages, migration and more.. A great way for the G9s to do this is through discussions with their classmates. This is because they very quickly find that everyone brings their own unique perspective to the conversations we are having about these topics. By attempting to put aside their own views, the G9s are learning to more easily be able to understand each other, the global issues we are exploring, and the “bigger picture” of how to solve these issues. This is keeping the IB learner profile attribute “open-minded” as the key to exploring other’s perspectives which, in today’s world, is an essential part of being a contributing global citizen. Great work G9s!
