It’s been a big week of deep thinking and writing happening with the G12s in TOK. Each of the G12s have been working at understanding and writing their TOK Essay that is based on one of six prescribed titles provided by the IB.
The TOK Essay is a corner stone of the IB diploma program and for good reason. This is because it often ties together the subject areas and allows students a chance to view their subject areas in a whole new way. Students explore the very fundamental details about knowledge and how it is created. This type of exploration can be applied to the Arts, Mathematics, History, the Sciences and all the areas of knowledge. Making these connections helps students see their studies at ABIS in the broader context of why it is important to be knowledgable, and what knowledge can we trust and not trust. This also helps students develop Learner Profile attributes like being a thinker, reflective, open-minded, balanced, principled, and communicators.
The challenging work of writing their TOK essays has begun and the G12s are off to an excellent start!
