A 3D sphere looks like a circle from all perspectives; a 3D cube sometimes looks like a square, sometimes a hexagon, depending on your perspective.
What if we were only 2D people living on a plane? What would a circle or a square look like? In theses photos, students attempt to perceive drawings from the plane they are drawn on. What did they see? Only lines… everything looks like a line.
What else is different for a being living in 2D? What are the characteristics that are used to determine social class? What does a house look like? Could there be gravity? Grade 9 is encouraged to read “Flatland” over the summer… a short read but profound.
