As we have been studying revolutions in the grade 8 classroom, we wanted to look at the difficulties of being a politician. So the class divided into different French political parties from the time of the revolution, and had to draft a constitution to represent their political beliefs. Then they had to try to get everyone to agree to their constitution. They quickly saw that to be a politician often meant compromise, something they really didn’t want to do! It’s been a good learning experience for them, as they now see how hard it is to create a government, and to stay true to your beliefs.
