Grade 8 students have been learning about the judicial process with a mock trial of Martin Luther as part of their study of the Reformation. It gave them the chance to not only learn about the main leaders during the Reformation but to understand just what it takes to prove someone guilty or innocent. Amidst accusations of “bias”, attorneys that didn’t “object” when they should have, and witnesses who didn’t say what they were supposed to, students understood that trials take a lot of preparation and research to do well. It was a good learning experience for all.
