Grade 10 students have just completed the grueling week of IGCSE mock exams. By finishing as many as four exams in a single day (!) the students have now experienced all the exams they will be sitting in May.
Of course, in May the exams will be spread out over three weeks instead of packed into one.
Mock exams are an essential part of the IGCSE (and, later, Diploma Programme) cycle. Students gain the valuable experience of the exams process; revision, preparation, and time management. Mock exams also serve to “de-mystify” these tests. Students will walk into the May exams feeling much more confident.
Finally, mock exams provide an excellent indication of where students’ strengths and weaknesses lie. They provide teachers with an opportunity to offer some real, concrete revision tips that can be used over the next eight weeks to increase student marks.
If you are the parent of a grade 10 student, expect to see the mock exam results and those revision tips on Thursday, 14 March.
