Wrapping up an entertaining unit on propaganda, the students in grade 8 made a presentation aimed at getting students to vote them school council president in a fictional election. Students were required to create two posters and a video, and to give a speech. All or most of the propaganda techniques we discussed in class were required to be in their work.
Their efforts were excellent and really demonstrated an understanding of how propaganda works to target our attitudes and emotions, rather than our reason and common sense.
Special kudos to Willem who produced what was universally acclaimed to be the highlight of today’s presentations, a video that was both sophisticated and incredibly propagandistic.
Below, Trisha presents one of her posters. Below that, a display of my favorite posters.
