Our new library system is moving along, and I wanted to give our school community an update regarding the huge amount of progress that’s been made.
Nearly 7000 titles are in our Primary library, and every one of them needed to be stickered and entered into our database system. The vast majority of stickering was done students, who gave up time during lunch and snack. A big thank you goes out to those that came in and make quick work of a pretty big job.
Entering the titles into our database system was a little more time consuming, and we would be no where near completion were it not for the dedicated parent volunteers who have been stopping by the library to pick up a scanner, and beep a pile of books. The amount of work that’s been done would have taken me twenty times longer had I been by myself, and I very likely would have lost my remaining bits of sanity in the process, so their effort is very much appreciated.
Now that the Primary Library is almost complete, it’s time to move to the SLS. We have a much smaller job to complete in Secondary, but we could still use some extra help. Our parent helpers have been tremendous, but they have been going at it for weeks now, and could use some fresh blood.
If you haven’t volunteered in the school before, we would love to have you, if even for an hour a week. Many hands make light work, so visit me (Mr.Wolfe) in the library if you are willing to donate some of your time…
