For the past three weeks grades 3 and 6 have been collaborating on a film project in social studies. The theme of the film is migration–the who, why and how of people moving around the globe. Working in mixed groups of 4-6 students, their task is to tell the story of a particular migration experience; for example, Irish immigration to Australia in the 19th century and the forced Sudanese migration of the 1980s.

This project provides the grade 6 students with a leadership opportunity as they take the lead on the film. For the grade 3 students, this is a chance to work with older students and learn from them.
