Grade 5’s enquiry into how and why the Earth changes is developing on multiple fronts. One of the introductory activities into decoding the lines of inquiry was for students to organize visuals related to each line. This initiated some lively debates which lead to an interesting follow up discussion on what each means and the difference between the three. This understanding was expanded upon during a field trip in which students had to identify and draw different Earth features, do an experiment involving breaking apart stones from the wadi and to link to our current Math unit, measure various objects they found in the wadi.
To compliment all this they have been working with Mr. Hampton in deconstructing and drawing landscapes and experimenting with earth tones to create rock-like pieces of art. See attached!
Oman Week is less than a week away and everyone is excited! Please ensure your child has everything they need. Ask them to double check the checklist that was provided on the information evening and the letter home on 2 February which listed additional essential items. It is going to be a wonderful time and a great way to consolidate the learning that has been taking place in the classroom (and wadi).
