Following A Midsummer Night’s Dream where forest fairies, Athenian lovers, reality and dreams all interconnect, the grade 8 class studied three poems steeped in nostalgia and nature. In all three texts the speaker reminisces about an impressive encounter with a ‘beast’. Initial fear evolves into awe and amazement, or perhaps lingers and turns into terror as is the case of the monster fish. It’s interesting how memory transforms reality and redefines our perspectives.
