This week the grade 6 class collectively wrote three PEE paragraphs on poems related to our Spinelli novel. A PEE paragraph includes a Point, Evidence and an Explanation. We have thus been working on topic sentences and providing material from the text to support our main idea.
I think my favorite text of the week was Sharon Creech’s novel Love That Dog which allows us witness Jack’s growth as a poet through his Reader’s Response interactions with Miss Stretchberry. It hopefully inspires a few of our closet poets to share their treasures.
