Dear Parents,
We are officially in the thick of it!
With the Seussical performance in less than a month’s time, new focuses in all curriculum areas under way, a Grade 5 assembly on 21 Nov. and various holidays scattered throughout the month, the Grade 5s definitely have their work cut out for them before the winter break. During this busy and stressful time, students will benefit more than ever from putting into practice what they learned in the last Unit of Inquiry (UOI) about having a balanced lifestyle. Please talk to them about how healthy food and exercise should be an integral part of the next 4 weeks.
Due the various holidays and other factors Seussical rehearsal time has been diminished and therefore Grade 5’s timetable will be altered to allow for more practice time during the school day. Please watch for a new schedule to be sent home early next week.
As mentioned last week, we have started Algebra and an important component of that is order of operations. So that all students are receiving the same suggestions and guidelines at school and at home, please see the attached photo of PEMDAS, the acronym we are using to remind us of the order of operations we are using.
As mentioned above, on Wednesday, 21 Nov. Grade 5 is hosting an important assembly that will highlight some crucial 21st century skills. Please come and watch if you are available.
Attached are some pictures of our continued UOI Art project and some interested readers from the secondary school browsing the G5’s writing assignment ‘This is me’.
Have a great long weekend! Happy Islamic New Year!
