Grade 11 have begun exploring History Paper 1, the dreaded sources exam in which students are asked to read, analyze and write about four primary and/or secondary sources. These could be excerpts from speeches, diaries, and textbooks, as well as political cartoons, photographs, and diagrams.

The students have an hour to complete the exam. It’s a challenge.

Today Grade 11 presented sources through the evaluation lens commonly known as OPCVL: the source’s origin, purpose, content, value, and limitations. This structure requires students to think like a historian when looking at these sources.

Well done to Claire, Jed, Aisha, and Aqeel for your insights and analysis!
