It’s hard to believe term 1 is nearly coming to an end. Routines have been established, learning has occurred and we have been working hard to push ourselves to learn even more. It’s been a busy week!
In literacy this week we have continued with our reading groups focusing on the skill of paraphrasing and summarizing what we are reading. In writing we have been working on writing an informative text where students have been developing an understanding of an introductory paragraph, using topic sentences, summarizing key components of our guest speakers migration push and pull factors as well as opportunities, risks and challenges. We are continuing to develop our first draft of the writing process. Stay tuned for a Seesaw post with a writing update coming soon.
In maths, we are continuing to identify the types of graphs, purpose and which situation we would use the graph in as well as introducing some of the vocabulary related to data. The types of graphs we have been identifying are bar graph, line graph, pie chart, pictograph, histogram, and line plot. Some of the vocabulary being used is data, data set, mean, median, mode, range and average. We are also continuing to build number sense with multiplication and division strategies
In our unit of inquiry this week we have been analyzing some migration data and making connections with problems related to migration building into the introduction of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
