π± KG2 β Week 7: Healthy Choices for Our Bodies and Brains
We have another exciting week of learning ahead in KG2! Next week, we will continue our βWho We Areβ unit by exploring how the choices we make every day can help keep our bodies and brains healthy.
π€ Phonics
We will introduce the /n/ sound and practise hearing and saying words that begin with /n/. We will also revisit all our SATPIN sounds β s, a, t, p, i, n.
The children will begin putting some of these sounds together to make simple words such as sat, sit, pat, tap and pin. We will have lots of opportunities to practise through games, songs and hands-on activities.
π’ Maths
In Maths, our focus will be on number 5. We will practise recognising and forming the number and explore more, less and the same.
The children will also continue practising careful counting, making sure that each object is counted once so that we can find out how many there are altogether.
π₯¦ UOI β Healthy Habits
We are moving our thinking beyond simply identifying healthy habits and will begin asking βWhy?β
We will explore how our everyday choices can help our bodies and brains. We will talk about:
π₯ Eating healthy foods
π§ Drinking water
π§Ό Washing our hands and keeping clean
π΄ Getting enough sleep and rest
π Moving and exercising
β€οΈ Keeping ourselves and our friends safe
π¨ Making time to learn and play
We will explore the idea of balance and how our bodies and brains need a mixture of different things. We need to eat, drink, move, rest, learn and play.
You can continue the learning at home by asking:
- What are healthy habits?
- Why do we need healthy food?
- Why do we drink water?
- Why does our body need sleep and rest?
- How does your body feel after you exercise?
- What healthy choice could you make today?
We are looking forward to another week of learning, thinking and making healthy choices as we discover how we can help our bodies and brains grow! π±π§π₯¦
