We have had a wonderful week learning about the migration journeys of several teachers, Ms. Tanika, Mr. Hoffman, Ms. Patty, Ms. Susan, and Ms. J. As students listened to these personal stories, they practiced taking clear and meaningful notes to strengthen their research skills. The stories helped students deepen their understanding of push and pull factors and evaluate the risks, opportunities and challenges connected to migration.
In Maths, students have been reviewing and practicing strategies for addition and subtraction with whole numbers and decimals. They have also been using the CUBES method to identify important information and solve word problems systematically. We are now beginning to make connections to multiplication strategies.
In Literacy, we are wrapping up our paragraph-writing focus and preparing to begin our informative writing unit. We also launched our reading groups this week. Students are learning to make inferences by combining information from the text with context clues and their own prior knowledge.
Homework Reminder: Homework was sent home on Tuesday. The choice board includes six activities, and students are expected to complete four or five of them. Homework journals are due back at school on Monday. Thank you for supporting your child in completing the assignments and returning their journal on time. If you have any questions, please let us know.
