Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome back to a brand new school year! We are thrilled to welcome our secondary musicians back into the music room for an exciting, hands on year of musical exploration, creation, and performance.
Here is a quick look at what our Grade 7 through Grade 10 students will be diving into this year:

Grade 7: Music for Video Games
Students will explore how music builds tension, emotion, and atmosphere in gaming environments. They’ll study classic and modern game soundtracks and learn how sound design and composition bring virtual worlds to life.

Grade 8: The Blues
We will dive into the history, structure, and massive cultural impact of Blues music. Students will learn about the 12-bar blues structure, improvisation, and how the Blues became the foundation for modern popular music.

Grade 9: Rock & Pop
This unit takes students through the evolution of Rock and Pop across decades. They will analyze iconic tracks, explore song structure, and collaborate on arranging and performing popular music.

Grade 10: Jazz
Students will engage with complex harmonies, syncopation, and advanced improvisation skills. We will study key pioneers of Jazz history and refine ensemble playing and musical expression.
