What a fun week, with the highlight undoubtedly the G6 Graduation on Tuesday. We hope you were incredibly proud of your children and that you enjoyed the spectacle. Thank you for taking the time to be present and celebrate this achievement with them. As promised, here is a link to the presentation we used on Tuesday with the photos and videos – link.
This morning we had Mr. Cooper come and help students prepare for Move Up Day on Tuesday June 9th. The students will spend a day in secondary, attending classes. They will need their PE kit.
Still to come…
We really want to make it clear that the Graduation does NOT mark the end of the school year for Grade 6. Please see below some of the exciting inquiries, key dates and the many reasons why your child should continue attending up until Wednesday 17th June!
In class…
- Concluding our Patterns and Algebra Maths Unit
- Building our own Passion CVs to pass on to Secondary Teachers on Tuesday June 9th. This will include a reflection of our ATL strengths and areas for development.
- Research project into a World Cup Team we picked out of the hat. This could be about music, history, food or any other aspect connected to the country. A great chance to apply some of our research skills.
- Continuing with Book Clubs, we will have a big final push to complete the books that each group is currently studying. There is nothing worse than reading just a fraction of a good book!
- Roller Coaster Project. A mathematical activity learning how to budget, design and work out the finances of a huge theme park. A multi day project with huge real life application as we look at different forms of profit and how to organise basic accounting.
Upcoming Dates:
-
- 8th June (Monday) – G3 Mini Market – items will cost 1-5 OMR, small change will be helpful
- 9th June (Tuesday) – Secondary pass up day, experience a day of learning with all the Secondary teachers. This is when we will pass on our passion CVs that we are building in class currently.
- 11th June (Thursday) – Secondary Award Ceremony. Who will be the G6 winner of the Marie Usher Award for 2026?
- 11th June (Thursday) Upper Primary Concert
- 17th June (Wednesday) – Final whole school assembly. One member of G6 will be selected to read their Ted talk in front of the whole school
- 17th June (Wednesday) – Secondary Games – G6 students join the upper school for a series of games and challenges. (sshh the students don’t know about this surprise) School finishes at 12.20pm on Wednesday, 17th June
There are lots of valuable lessons – the curriculum is planned to last for the full 180 days, so please give your child the opportunity to complete all of the G6 curriculum!
Have a great weekend,
The Grade 6 Team
