Dear Parents,
What a wonderful and busy week of learning we’ve had in Grade 1.
In Math, we have started learning how to read the hours on an analogue clock. The children began by making their own clocks. By using these hands-on materials, they were able to better understand how the hour hand moves and how time is shown. This was a fun and meaningful activity that helped make a new concept clear and engaging.
In Literacy, we continued practicing the “magic e” (also known as the silent e). The children learned how adding an ‘e’ at the end of a word changes the short vowel sound into a long vowel sound (for example: cap → cape, kit → kite). This helps them with both reading and spelling new words.
We also had lots of fun during PE, where the students enjoyed being active and working together.
Kind regards,
Ms. Guinee
