Welcome back and what a week already!

Students had their first day online and were amazing. They showed up in Google Meet (thank you, parents!) on time and happy to see each other. Everyone was keen to share their holiday and rain experiences. Many were able to handle microphone, video and mute control so we could listen to each other and they took turns to speak. Many pupils did online activities or followed instructions to do some learning at home.

Back in school, I was thrilled to see the progress in their spoken and written English. They have been willing to write sentences independently, help each other and are showing enthusiasm to keep learning more. We considered our responsibility at home- in our family COMMUNITY. Many could give examples of how they help.

All were very excited to continue to build our 3D community and were able to name needed services- so we now have a 4 star Tamim Hotel, a dentist, sweet shop, clothes store and more- even an electrical shop. I am always thrilled to watch children create and co-construct spaces like this as it reveals so much of their understanding and displays many varied skills.

We extend a big THANK YOU to Grade 4 who hosted us to play Maths games and we learnt a lot from this. We will be bringing some of those ideas back into the classroom. Several students attempted the ‘Estimation Jars’ and all were excited about the whole school Rock, Paper, Scissors Event.

Students showed their communication skills and how caring they are by sending a group message to one of our class who has been back in his country for a few weeks. They were very excited to hear back from him and see he is doing learning at home too. This is the best example how wonderful it is to teach multi-lingual students and have them be able to connect.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
