Dear Parents,
I hope this message finds you well. It has been a focused and productive week in the music department as our students transition into the analytical and technical phases of their current units.
Our MYP music students are reaching important milestones in their Semester 2 studies. Here is an update on their progress this week:
- Grade 7: Music for Advertising – Following the completion of their jingles, Grade 7 students have officially started the analysis for Criterion A. They are examining the theoretical elements of music in advertising and reflecting on how these components influence a target audience.
- Grade 8: Music for Films – Having successfully finished their scoring projects, Grade 8 has now started the sound design unit. They are beginning to explore the world of Foley and environmental audio, learning how to layer non-musical sounds to enhance the realism and atmosphere of a cinematic scene.
- Grade 9: Rock and Pop – Our Grade 9 students are currently finishing their analysis for Criterion A. They are wrapping up their deep dive into the history and characteristics of the Rock and Pop genres, ensuring they have a strong theoretical foundation for their practical work.
- Grade 10: The e-Portfolio – Our Grade 10 students are reaching a critical stage in their final assessment. This week, they are recording their progress on the performance aspect of the e-Portfolio, capturing high-quality evidence of their technical development and artistic interpretation.
Thank you for your continued support of our music program.
