Dear Secondary Families,

Tomorrow, school will be closed as we recognise, Teachers’ Day.

Teaching is a profession that is very rewarding and carries real responsibility. Every day, our teachers are not only delivering lessons, but guiding, encouraging, challenging and supporting young people through important stages of their lives. Much of that work happens quietly, in conversations after class, in careful feedback, in noticing when something isn’t quite right. If we think back to our own education, most of us can name one or two teachers who genuinely made a difference. Often, it wasn’t just what they taught us, but how they made us feel; capable, supported, believed in. Teachers’ Day is an opportunity for us all to reflect on the impact of teachers throughout our lives.

We are fortunate at ABIS to have a committed and hardworking team who care deeply about their students and about the standards we uphold as a school. I am very grateful to be a part of that team and value the trust that you place in us. Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

We have now confirmed our final Oman Week trip for our Grade 10 & 11 students. They will be embarking on a diving adventure where they will be working towards the ‘PADI Scuba Diver Certificate‘. This certifies them to dive worldwide to 12m with a PADI Professional. This concludes our Oman Week trips this year with a variety of different experiences;

Grade 7 – Sifah Camp;  watersports, camping and teambuilding

Grade 8 – Sailing; successful completion of their Level 1 Sailing.

Grade 9 – Culture & Adventure; Wadi Hoqain, Nizwa and Muscat.

Grades 10 -12 – Diving; PADI Scuba Diver Certificate.

Our Oman Week trips are an important part of life at ABIS. Although they sit outside the formal curriculum, they provide learning that the classroom alone cannot offer. Students experience adventure, explore different parts of Oman, and learn to take responsibility, follow agreed expectations, and support one another. These trips build resilience, independence and teamwork, while also giving students valuable opportunities to grow through shared experiences beyond the school day.

Have a lovely long weekend.
