Unit: Embracing Uniqueness

Grade 10 students are currently working on Criterion B: Developing, where they explore practical ideas to inform their final artwork. In direct connection with the Statement of Inquiry, students are experimenting with 2–3 drawings in their art journals (digital format accepted with process screenshots). They may build on ideas from Task 1 or create new concepts.

Each experiment must use different media (e.g., pencil, watercolour, acrylic, pastel) and include a clear explanation of why the medium was chosen and how it supports their concept of individuality. The process must be documented in at least three stages (beginning, middle, near completion), with 1–2 slides per experiment.

Students also explain their inspiration (artist, artwork, technique, or personal experience), ensuring it reflects original thinking and aligns with the unit focus. A short reflection on their learning and artistic intention completes the task.

This process strengthens both technical skills and the ability to clearly communicate personal identity through art.
