Dear Parents,
I hope this message finds you well. It has been a significant week of transitions in the music department as several grade levels conclude their practical projects and move into analytical and specialized phases.
Our MYP music students are reaching important milestones in their Semester 2 units. Here is an update on their progress this week:
- Grade 7: Music for Advertising – The students have successfully presented their Summative assessments for the advertising unit. As we move forward, they will embark on an analysis and reflection tasks during Ramadan, allowing them to evaluate their creative process and the impact of their musical choices.
- Grade 8: Music for Films – Our Grade 8 students have finished their film scoring projects. Building on this success, they will now start a unit on sound design, exploring how foley and environmental sounds contribute to cinematic storytelling alongside the musical score.
- Grade 9: Rock and Pop – Following their filming sessions, Grade 9 will now focus on Criterion A (Knowing and Understanding). This will involve analyzing the cultural contexts of Rock and Pop and evaluating their own artistic development throughout the unit.
- Grade 10: The e-Portfolio – Our Grade 10 students are continuing their rigorous pace and will keep working on their e-Portfolios. They are currently refining their evidence and ensuring all aspects of their process journals meet the final MYP requirements.
Thank you for your continued support of our music program
