Students continue to surprise me with their ability to be good inquirers this week as we had a special visitor to help us with Our Unit. We are learning about how people help us and provide us with our needs and wants. One of our parents is a doctor and very kindly agreed to come and speak with the children about his work. Dr Ammar listened to all the children’s questions and there were a lot!

Some of the questions: Is your job hard or easy? Why do you need a cast? How do you heal a heart? If you get bitten by a snake, how do you fix it? How do you help patients? Why do you need a (plaster) cast? How long to be a doctor? (to study)

I was very proud that the children were so curious, most tried to ask the question in English and they had some very interesting questions. They listened very well and were all rewarded by getting to listen to their heart beat with a real stethoscope. This was a really valuable session for the children and we extend our grateful thanks again to Dr Ammar.

In other news, we are continuing to learn about shapes and children rose to the challenge of making a 2d paper shape community which is not as easy as it may sound! They could cut out shapes to make houses, trees, cars and people but some remembered that a community also needed a hospital, a supermarket, Police station and other useful places. They worked hard on this and we have made an amazing collage- see photos attached!

I wish everyone a peaceful and calm Ramadan for this upcoming holy month.
