Next week, we will continue our Unit of Inquiry Sharing the Planet, focusing on Plants and Growth as we explore how all living things are connected through the key concept of Function. The children will revisit our bean plants to observe how they have changed and will begin a new planting activity to compare how different seeds grow. We will also carry out a cotton seed experiment to help the children clearly observe how roots begin to develop.
As part of integrating art and literacy, the students will paint a flower and label its parts — root, stem, leaf, and flower — helping them understand how each part supports the plant. Our stories next week, The Tiny Seed and Pip Plants a Seed, will support our learning about how seeds grow and what plants need to survive. In phonics, we will focus on the letter sound /f/, and in math, the children will practise creating simple tally charts and comparing quantities.
Please note that next week marks the start of Ramadan, and the school day will end at 1:00 pm. Our timetable will change during this period, and swimming will take place on Mondays.
We are looking forward to a calm and meaningful week of learning as the children continue caring for and observing our growing plants 🌱.
