Dear Parents,
Grade 7s are still diving into the theme of families, continuing to explore how all families look different and what makes each one unique. Next week, we’ll look more closely at how we connect with different family members, and how those relationships can vary across cultures.
Grade 8s have been working on the topic of house and home, learning the vocabulary of amenities and equipment. We’ve explored a few Airbnb listings already, and next week we’ll see if they can fully make sense of one on their own, identifying all the conventions that make this specific text type work so well.
Grade 9s are away this week on their Oman Week trip, and I hope they’re having an amazing time discovering, learning, and making memories together. We look forward to hearing all about it when they return.
Grade 10s have been busy mastering the past tenses. From passé composé with avoir, to passé composé with être and the famous “house”, students can now talk confidently about completed past events, such as someone’s migration story. Next week, we dive into the imparfait and testimony reading, before they get to write their own for Criterion D.
Grade 11–12 DP students have also gone deep into grammar mode, working with passé composé, imparfait, and passé récent. In other words, all things past this week!
A busy and positive week all around and tonight is our International Food Evening, so fingers crossed for a delicious one. À très vite!
